Yuja Wang plays Prokofiev’s 3rd Piano Concerto at Avery Fisher Hall: Thu - Sat, April 12 - 14
While Yuja Wang does occasionally heat up concert halls and classical music columns with uncommonly revealing outfits, her on-stage persona is much less glitzy and much more humble than that of the other famous globetrotting Chinese pianist who shall not be named (and who I would not drag up to Lincoln Center for again). I’ve seen her flawlessly pound out Prokofiev’s 2nd Piano Concerto before, I have no doubts the extreme technical challenges of the 3rd will find their match in her indisputable raw skill at the keyboard.
